Strand-asymmetric G-runs and G4s downstream of TSS modulate tumor suppressor gene transcription
Abstract A genome sequence is not made up of random nucleotides. Instead, it has distinctive features for evolutionary adaptation. Herein, we identified a higher frequency of continuous guanines (G-runs) located downstream of the transcription start site (TSS) in the non-template strand than that of the template strand by analyzing the genomic region around TSS (TSS ± 1 kb) across different species. G-runs are known to have the propensity to form G-quadruplex structures (G4).

In vitro and in vivo metabolism profiles of cathinone and pseudoephedrine: Discrimination between khat and pseudoephedrine uses
Khat and pseudoephedrine metabolism profiled in liver microsome and rat urine. Cathinone detected after pseudoephedrine dosing complicates source attribution. Cathine with parent drugs (cathinone or pseudoephedrine) is the required biomarkers. Urinary pseudoephedrine:cathinone ratios support forensic discrimination of khat use. 1 INTRODUCTION Khat (Catha edulis), a plant native to East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, is an herbal stimulant [1].

A testis-specific E3 ubiquitin ligase complex governs spermiogenesis and male fertility - Nature Communications
|
Abstract The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) represents an evolutionarily conserved machinery governing proteostasis through spatiotemporal regulation of protein degradation. While spermatogenesis involves multilayered regulatory mechanisms spanning translation to dynamic post-translational modifications (PTMs), the identity of UPS-associated E3 ligases orchestrating germ cell-specific protein turnover remains elusive.

Evaluation of the efficacy of 18F-FDG PET-CT combined with CT in detecting lymph node metastasis in liver cancer
1 Introduction Liver cancer is the sixth most common malignant tumour worldwide and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality (1). Common risk factors include viral infections, such as hepatitis B and C viruses (HBV and HCV), chronic liver diseases (CLD) such as cirrhosis, alcoholism, and metabolic disorders including diabetes (2). Early-stage liver cancer often presents with subtle symptoms, and by the time it is diagnosed, it is typically at an advanced stage.
Structure of ATTRv-F64S fibrils isolated from skin tissue of a living patient - Nature Communications
Abstract Amyloid transthyretin-derived (ATTR) amyloidosis is a degenerative, systemic disease characterized by transthyretin fibril deposition in organs like the heart, kidneys, liver, and skin. In this study, we report the cryo-EM structure of transthyretin fibrils isolated from skin tissue of a living patient carrying a rare genetic mutation (ATTRv F64S). The structure adopts a highly conserved fold previously observed in other ATTR fibrils from various tissues or different genetic variants.

Targeting TNK2/ACK1 reverses the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and synergizes with immunochemotherapy in pancreatic cancer - Nature Communications
Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains highly lethal due to its aggressive nature and limited treatment options, with the efficacy of immunotherapy constrained by a uniquely immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). In this study, we identify TNK2/ACK1 as a key regulator of the immunosuppressive TME in PDAC. TNK2/ACK1 is significantly upregulated in PDAC, at least in part via gene amplification and KRAS-G12 mutations.
Catenibacterium mitsuokai promotes hepatocellular carcinogenesis by binding to hepatocytes and generating quinolinic acid
Main text (Cell Metabolism 37, 1998–2013.e1–e7; October 7, 2025) In the original version of this article, the labels for “Tumor” and “Adjacent liver” were inadvertently swapped in the bar chart in Figure 1C. In addition, the western blot band in Figure 7E was incorrectly displayed. These errors have now been corrected online. The authors confirm that these corrections do not affect the underlying data or conclusions of the study. Figure 1C C.
