ACAT1/SOAT1 governs mitochondrial dynamics and thermogenesis via the mTOR-MFN2-USP2 axis in brown adipocytes
Abstract Mitochondrial dynamics are crucial for brown adipose tissue (BAT) thermogenesis and systemic energy homeostasis; yet, the cholesterol-sensing pathways regulating these processes remain poorly defined. Here we report that ACAT1, an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident cholesterol esterase, acts as a critical rheostat of thermogenesis by governing mitochondrial dynamics in BAT.

Multimodal deep learning model for AI-based functional prognostic risk stratification in patients undergoing radical nephrectomy
|
Abstract Making the decision between technically challenging partial nephrectomy (PN) and radical nephrectomy (RN) in patients with complex renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains a significant challenge for urologists. Rapid glomerular filtration rate (GFR) decline (annual decline >3 mL/min/1.73 m²) after RN is considered an abnormal renal function state, and if this risk can be predicted preoperatively, PN may be pursued even when technically demanding.

Diagnostic research in immune checkpoint inhibitor-related pneumonitis: a bibliometric analysis of research evolution, diagnostic focuses, and future priorities
Abstract Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitor-related pneumonitis (CIP) is an important pulmonary toxicity in cancer immunotherapy. Its diagnostic assessment is difficult because symptoms and imaging overlap with infection, radiation pneumonitis, tumor progression, pre-existing interstitial lung disease, and other drug-induced lung injuries. Although publications on CIP have increased in recent years, research on diagnostic assessment remains insufficiently described.
A machine learning approach with SHAP interpretability for classifying drug craving levels
Abstract Background: Drug addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disease. Drug craving is the strongest independent predictor of relapse. However, traditional linear models often fail to capture complex non-linear addiction patterns. Although machine learning (ML) demonstrates superior performance, its “black-box” nature limits clinical credibility. Objective: This study aimed to construct a classification model for drug craving scores based on ML and explore the impact of multifactorial features.
Development of a novel radially-distributed spiral bilayer thermopile infrared sensor with enhanced responsivity
Abstract Current trend of pursuing higher resolution in uncooled cost-effective infrared imagers demands thermopile sensing units with higher responsivity. CBX2 phase-separation contributes to homologous recombination repair and drug resistance in ovarian cancer
Abstract Drug resistance jeopardizes the prognosis of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) patients via DNA damage repair-coupled mechanism. The role of biomolecular phase separation in DNA damage repair has loomed. Here we find that CBX2 condensates are associated with drug resistance and contribute to DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair in HGSOC. Specifically, CBX2 condensates facilitate the recruitment of key DSB repair factors PARP1, 53BP1, and BRCA1 to chromatin.

Abstract Orbital angular momentum has recently been demonstrated as a promising approach to manipulate magnetic order in spintronic devices with high efficiency. While the generation of orbital angular momentum is generally attributed to electron orbital hopping and hybridization, its experimental manifestations have often been discussed in an isotropic manner.
Targeting UHRF1 induces regression of aggressive mantle cell lymphoma
|
Abstract Although targeting the ubiquitin-like PHD and RING finger domain-containing protein 1 (UHRF1) has shown promise in treating a number of diseases, its function in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and its regulatory connection to SOX11 are yet unknown. Our study showed that UHRF1 is markedly upregulated in MCL, and this overexpression is associated with a poorer overall survival rate in MCL patients.

Predicting the risk for distant metastasis in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma and assessing the survival benefit of induction therapy - Scientific Reports
Abstract Hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC) has a poor prognosis due, in large part, to distant metastasis (DM). Although induction therapy (IT) can reduce DM rates, its translation to an overall survival (OS) benefit remains unclear, highlighting the need for tools to identify patients who would benefit most from IT. This study developed a nomogram to predict the risk for DM in patients with HPSCC, and assessed the survival benefit of IT across risk groups.
Approaching theoretical polarization limit in HfZrO2/HfLaO2 multilayers - Nature Communications
Abstract Hafnia-based ferroelectric materials have garnered considerable attention due to robust ferroelectricity in ultrathin films and excellent compatibility with silicon-based technology. Theoretical predictions of the polarization along [001] direction of ferroelectric HfO2 are 50 μC/cm2 and 70 μC/cm2, respectively, depending on the switching mechanism. However, most experimental observations of the intrinsic polarization are much lower than these predictions.
