FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - Flint city officials are using a $1 million fund to protect residents from rising water costs. Mayor Sheldon Neeley said the Water Stabilization Fund includes $1 million in ARPA dollars. The fund will help city officials cover the cost of rate hikes without passing them along to residents. According to the city's Chief Financial Officer Phillip Moore, water bills will not increase when the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) raises its price again in 2027.

Michigan's Tuition Incentive Program is closing a college access gap, according to UM researchers. SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) - A new University of Michigan study shows the state's Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) is increasing college enrollment among low-income students by helping cover tuition and fees for those who qualify. Sarah Szurpicki oversees the Office of Higher Education at MiLEAP. She told ABC12 the study found eligible students were more likely to enroll in college thanks to the TIP.
