MACF1 condensates serve as molecular rheostats translating mechanical stress into bone adaptation
Abstract Bone dynamically maintains homeostasis through mechanotransduction, a process essential for skeletal integrity and frequently disrupted in disease. Yet how bone cells decode mechanical cues into adaptive responses remains poorly understood. Here, we identify MACF1, a cytoskeletal crosslinker and core component of stress granules (SGs), as a mechanosensitive scaffold that undergoes phase separation via its intrinsically disordered region 2 (IDR2).
3D mechanical response and evolution characteristics of load bearing zone for surrounding rock mass in large section tunnels
Abstract In deep-buried tunnels, surrounding rock acts as both a load source and load-bearing structure via the internal load-bearing zone, whose three-dimensional (3D) evolution governs support design and tunnel long-term stability. This study investigates the 3D spatial effects of the load-bearing zone, which are governed by the stress release coefficient.
Reframing decentralized diagnostics with a programmable multi-dimensional microfluidic system
Abstract Decentralized diagnostics are vital for infectious disease control, yet current point-of-care tools remain largely one-dimensional, failing to capture the multidimensional profiles required for precision management. Here, we show SID-WAVES (Smartphone-Integrated Diagnostics with Wax-encoded Amplified and Versatile Evaluation System), an intelligent, multimodal microfluidic platform.
The prevalence and influencing factors of comorbid sleep disorders and anxiety among military personnel stationed in plateau regions
Abstract Plateau regions are characterized by extremely harsh environmental conditions, the substantial psychological stress associated with military service increases the susceptibility of soldiers to sleep disturbances and anxiety symptoms. This study aims to systematically examine the co-occurrence of sleep and anxiety disorders among military personnel stationed in plateau areas and to identify key influencing factors. A cross-sectional was conducted from March 2023 to December 2025.
Nitrite reductase NirB mediates an unconventional nitrogen assimilation strategy to enhance adaptations of extremophile
Abstract Microbial metabolism in extreme environments has long been shrouded in profound mystery. Distinct from the direct assimilation of exogenous organic carbon, microorganisms predominantly exploit inorganic nitrogen substrates as their primary nitrogen sources. As a critical nitrogen assimilation pathway, assimilatory nitrite reduction plays a vital role in microbial nitrogen acquisition, especially in extreme environments with poor nutrient availability.
Androgen receptor condensates drive gastric cancer through SWI/SNF-mediated chromatin remodeling and create a therapeutic vulnerability
Abstract Gastric cancer (GC) remains a leading cause of cancer mortality, with epidemiological patterns indicative of androgen signaling involvement. We establish androgen receptor (AR) as a pivotal oncogenic factor in GC and provide preclinical validation for its therapeutic targeting. AR expression was significantly elevated in GC tissues and correlated with adverse prognosis across ten independent cohorts (n = 1740).
Altered function of peripheral organ systems in first-episode drug naïve mental illnesses: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Although mental illness is primarily regarded as a disorder of the brain, body system dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a salient biomarker in psychiatry, often emerging before the onset of overt symptoms.
Spatiotemporal evolution of groundwater drought and multi-type drought propagation responses in the Yellow River source region
Abstract Existing studies often identify drought propagation time using correlation analysis or fixed-lag methods, which makes it difficult to reveal directional predictive relationships among drought types and to assess the stability and uncertainty of lagged response windows. To address these gaps, this study focuses on the Yellow River source region.
Case Report: Primary aldosteronism coexisting with adrenal insufficiency in a 73-year-old woman with paradoxical hyponatremia
Abstract Introduction: Primary aldosteronism (PA) and autoimmune polyglandular syndrome type 2 (APS-2) represent opposing ends of adrenal pathology—hyperfunction versus hypofunction. Their coexistence is exceptionally rare and diagnostically challenging. Case presentation: A 73-year-old woman with a 30-year history of refractory hypertension and recent hyponatremia was diagnosed with PA (aldosterone-to-renin ratio 29.11, positive captopril challenge, left adrenal hyperplasia).
Adaptation of Echinococcus Multilocularis to Oxidative Stress Depends on EmPDK-Mediated Metabolic Reprogramming
1 Introduction Parasitic existence is the ultimate result of prolonged adaptation and co-evolution. Compared to their free-living counterparts, parasites undergo profound morphological and physiological alterations due to their long-term adaptation to the host environment. Tapeworms, as quintessential obligate parasites, exhibit highly degenerated digestive organs, extremely well-developed reproductive organs, and structures like suckers that evolved for attachment to the host [1].
A community-based online machine learning platform for predicting rapid decline in kidney function: a nationwide cohort study
Abstract Rapid decline in kidney function (RDKF) is an early and modifiable precursor of chronic kidney disease, yet proactive risk identification remains limited in community-based populations. This study aimed to develop, validate, and deploy an interpretable machine learning model to predict 4-year RDKF risk among community-dwelling middle-aged and older adults in China. We used data from 5,012 participants in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (2011–2015).

Abstract The balance of regional ecosystems has been increasingly disrupted by climate change and human activities. The Sanjiang Plain, an important commercial grain production base and a concentrated area of black-soil wetlands in China’s high-latitude region, has suffered a decline in regional ecosystem service functions as a result of large-scale agricultural development.
Design and optimization of highly reliable cognitive non-orthogonal multiple access communication systems
Abstract In this paper, we consider a coexisting network of cellular transmission and device-to-device (D2D) communication, in which BS wants to communicate with far user, meanwhile, a D2D source desires to transmit information to a D2D destination. However, due to heavy shadowing or severe path loss, their direct links are not available. To cope with this problem, a relay is employed to assist the involved transmission.

BK channel overactivity in NAc core D1R-expressing neurons elevates anxiety with age in mice
Abstract Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders in both younger and older adults. However, the current treatments for anxiety were developed based on younger adults and are not as effective in older adults. Therefore, investigating anxiety disorders in older adults would greatly benefit the mental well-being of the rapidly growing aged populations. This study finds that basal anxiety-like behaviors elevate with age in mice.
Lancet: Accelerating mixture-of-experts training via whole graph computation-communication overlapping
The Mixture-of-Expert (MoE) technique plays a crucial role in expanding the size of DNN model parameters. However, it faces the challenge of extended all-to-all communication latency during the training process. Existing methods attempt to mitigate this issue by overlapping all-to-all with expert computation. Yet, these methods frequently fall short of achieving sufficient overlap, consequently restricting the potential for performance enhancements.
CircRNA-cZFR is upregulated in bladder cancer and promotes tumorigenesis via UBE2V1 regulation
Abstract Circular RNA (circRNA), which encompasses a large range of endogenous RNA, can control the expression of genes in cancer. However, the function of circRNA in tumor stem cells remains largely unknown. In this study, we obtained circRNA and mRNA microarray data from bladder cancer stem cells (BCSCs) and non-bladder cancer stem cells (NBCSCs) derived from 3 patients. We performed functional validation of putative mechanisms using established low expression of cZFR bladder cancer cell lines.

Inhibition of salt-inducible kinases reprograms T cells and antitumor immunity in ovarian cancer
|
Abstract Patients with metastatic high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma are often unresponsive to immunotherapies; here we identify salt-inducible kinases (SIKs) as key drivers of immunosuppression. Human T cells in the presence of patient ascites express high levels of SIK and the upstream kinase LKB1, whereas SIK inhibition reprograms human T cells and strongly activates antitumor responses.

Improved dynamic MRI of the wrist and heart at 0.55 T enabled by rapid 3D printed flexible coils
Abstract Dynamic MRI at low field is limited by reduced signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and additional losses imposed by accelerated acquisitions required for high temporal resolution. Flexible, anatomically conformal coils can recover SNR by maintaining proximity during motion, but lower conductor conductivity introduces resistive losses, requiring careful material optimization.
Ball-lightning-like relativistic terahertz solitons

Here we report the first controlled generation of a macroscopic, long-lived soliton driven by relativistic terahertz electromagnetic fields.
Brain-derived microvesicles induce activation of aspirin-treated platelets via the PLC/PKC pathway
Abstract Aspirin (Asp) therapy reduces the risk of arterial thrombotic events. However, aspirin-related adverse effects, particularly cerebral hemorrhage with its high mortality and disability rates, remain a significant concern. Interestingly, long-term antiplatelet therapy does not appear to exacerbate bleeding severity in patients with hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease, suggesting potential compensatory mechanisms inducing platelet activation post-hemorrhage.

Specialized aldo-keto reductases trigger complete degradation of mycotoxin deoxynivalenol - Nature Communications
Abstract The mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON) poses severe threats to human and animal well-being globally. Enzymatic degradation is the most effective way to eliminate DON toxicity, yet no catalytic process for complete degradation of DON has been uncovered. Here, we show that a metabolic pathway initiated by C3-epimerization and C8-reduction is responsible for complete degradation of DON in the DON-metabolizing bacterium Nocardioides sp. S5-5.
