Enteral feeding tube use among pediatric patients and nurses’ knowledge in China: a 52-hospital point-prevalence and cross-sectional survey study
Abstract Background: Enteral feeding tubes are widely used in pediatric patients, but tube-related complications remain a safety concern. Understanding current practice and nurses’ knowledge is essential for improving the safety of enteral feeding tube placement and guiding evidence-based pediatric care. Aim: To investigate the current status of enteral feeding tube placements in hospitalized children in China and to evaluate nurses’ knowledge and experience of enteral feeding tube management.
A continuous network physiology analysis of brain–heart interactions in epileptic seizures
Abstract The investigation of brain–heart interplay (BHI) has gained significant momentum in recent years, and has emerged as a pivotal area of neurophysiological research. The applications of BHI span cognitive neuroscience, sleep research, and neurological disorders, where the analysis of cortical and autonomic dynamics can provide a mechanistic overview of functional regulation.
Timing of the first dressing change after CVC insertion in pediatric critically ill patients: a randomized controlled, non-inferiority trial
Abstract The optimal timing of the first dressing change after central venous catheter (CVC) insertion remains unclear. To test whether a first dressing change at seven days is non-inferior to an additional change at 24 h, we conducted a multicenter randomized controlled non-inferiority trial in four Chinese pediatric ICUs (April 2021–December 2022).

Systemic inflammation indices generated from first-trimester blood tests can be potential biomarkers for predicting preeclampsia
Abstract Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, affecting 3 to 8% of pregnancies. Currently, no clinically useful predictive biomarker exists. Preeclampsia is characterised by systemic inflammatory responses that may be triggered by placental materials released into the maternal circulation, leading to an overly active maternal immune system. Recently, systemic inflammation indices have been used as indicators of inflammation in various diseases.
CPT1B K321 crotonylation contributes to cardiac dysfunction in endotoxic shock
Abstract Lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is a novel posttranslational modification that has been proven to have evolutionary conservation. However, the role of protein Kcr in the pathogenesis of endotoxic shock-induced secondary cardiomyopathy is elusive. Here a classic rat model of endotoxic shock was induced by intraperitoneal lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection.

LNP-based delivery of a Toll-like receptor 9 agonist elicits potent adjuvant effects and antitumor immunity
Abstract The success of therapeutic cancer vaccines hinges on overcoming the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) and activating robust, durable cellular immunity. Here, we engineered a highly translatable vaccine adjuvant delivery system (LNPC) by integrating the Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist CpG with the FDA-approved ionizable lipid ALC-0315.

Factors associated with first-attempt success of peripheral arterial catheterization in a pediatric intensive care unit: a prospective observational study
Abstract Background: Peripheral arterial catheterization (PAC) is widely used in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) for continuous hemodynamic monitoring and arterial blood sampling. However, achieving successful arterial access in critically ill children remains technically challenging, and evidence regarding factors associated with first-attempt success is limited. Methods: A prospective observational cohort study was conducted in a tertiary PICU.

Genome-wide association study reveals candidate genes associated with body weight and wool traits in Ordos fine-wool sheep
Abstract Background: The Ordos fine-wool sheep is a high-quality fine-wool breed in China, renowned for its excellent wool quality, meat production, and adaptability to the arid and semi-arid regions of Inner Mongolia. Body weight and wool traits are important economic characteristics in sheep breeding. This study aimed to identify genetic loci associated with body weight (BW), wool length (WL), and wool fineness (WF) in Ordos fine-wool sheep.
Preventing traumatic stress–induced behavioral abnormalities in rats with blue light phototherapy
Abstract Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating mental condition triggered by traumatic stress, and current treatments remain limited. Non-invasive phototherapy has shown promise in mood disorders, yet its efficacy in PTSD—particularly for early intervention and fear symptom mitigation—remains insufficiently explored.
Image-based detection of bolts and bolt-missing defects in multi-angle and complex background scenarios - Scientific Reports
Abstract Bolted connections are widely adopted as primary structural joints in engineering infrastructure. However, conventional manual inspection remains labor-intensive and time-consuming. Deep learning–based automated defect detection faces significant challenges due to pronounced image variability induced by variable camera angles, lighting conditions, partial occlusions, and complex backgrounds.
A spatial transcriptomics comparison of the adult versus metamorphosed axolotl brain - Scientific Data
|
Abstract The Mexican axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is an established model for studying tetrapod regeneration and development. Notably, axolotls exhibit remarkable brain regeneration as adults, a trait rarely observed in other adult vertebrates. Adult axolotls can undergo metamorphosis, a process that induces dramatic remodeling of multiple organs and is accompanied by a gradual decline in regenerative capacity and lifespan.

The crucial but insufficient role of E2s domain’s residues 490 and 492 in determining the host tropism of hepatitis E virus - Nature Communications
Abstract Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a significant pathogen causing acute viral hepatitis globally, posing a particular threat to pregnant women. HEV infects a range of host species, with distinct genotypes exhibiting genotype-specific tropism for different host hepatocytes. The P domain of viral capsid protein plays a central role in host cell attachment, but the molecular determinants that govern its host specificity remain unclear.

Case Report: Delivery or not, generalized arterial calcification of infancy in China
Abstract Generalized arterial calcification of infancy (GACI) is an extremely rare, often fatal condition characterized by widespread calcification and stenosis of both large and medium-sized arteries. The majority of cases are caused by biallelic variants in the ENPP1 gene, leading to deficiency of an enzyme critical for preventing pathological calcium deposition in arterial walls. The prognosis of GACI is severe, with fetal and infant mortality rates reaching up to 55%.

Bryophytes hold a larger gene family space than vascular plants - Nature Genetics
|
Abstract After 500 million years of evolution, extant land plants compose the following two sister groups: the bryophytes and the vascular plants. Despite their small size and simple structure, bryophytes thrive in a wide variety of habitats, including extreme conditions. However, the genetic basis for their ecological adaptability and long-term survival is not well understood.

Single-cell transcriptome atlas of lamprey exploring Natterin- induced white adipose tissue browning - Nature Communications
Abstract Lampreys are early jawless vertebrates that are the key to understanding the evolution of vertebrates. However, the lack of cytomic studies on multiple lamprey organs has hindered progress in this field. Therefore, the present study constructed a comprehensive cell atlas comprising 604,460 cells/nuclei and 70 cell types from 14 lamprey tissue samples. Comparison of cellular evolution across species revealed that most lamprey cell types are homologous to those in jawed vertebrates.

In-Situ Conversion of Co-CoN Nanowires into Ultrathin 2D Nanosheets for High Effective Catalytic Hydrogenation
In-Situ Conversion of Co-CoN Nanowires into Ultrathin 2D Nanosheets for High Effective Catalytic Hydrogenation The design of 2-dimentional (2D) CoN-based thin sheets is promising in the catalytic field. The usual synthesis based on the thermal treatment of the hydroxide sheets undergoes the enhanced particle size and thick sheets. Here, we have showed a novel route based on an in-situ conversion of Co-CoN nanowires into ultra-thin sheets for an effective catalytic hydrogenation.
