Scalability bottlenecks in entanglement-based satellite quantum key distribution: downlink asymmetry, orbit dependence and finite-key effects
Abstract Space-based entanglement distribution, as the backbone of the quantum Internet, is poised to enable global quantum networking from infrastructure to application platforms. Satellite-based quantum key distribution (SatQKD), with the entanglement-based QKD protocol of Bennett, Brassard, and Mermin (BBM92), promises source-independent security, but faces a trinity of scalability bottlenecks in dual-downlink configurations.
Updating the symbols of ten cytokines and their receptors: report of the IUIS Cytokine Nomenclature Sub-Committee
The Cytokine Nomenclature Sub-Committee was established by the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) in December 2025, replacing the dormant Interleukin Nomenclature Sub-Committee. The new sub-committee’s mission is to harmonize nomenclature for cytokines, interleukins, chemokines, interferons and growth factors of the immune system and their receptors, and to promote adoption by the scientific community worldwide.
Development and external validation of a machine learning risk model for pediatric IgA vasculitis nephritis in the post-pandemic era
Abstract To investigate shifts in clinical characteristics and risk factors for IgA vasculitis nephritis (IgAVN) in children before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and to develop a risk prediction model adapted to the post-pandemic era. Clinical data from children with IgAV were retrospectively collected from two cohorts: pre-pandemic period (January 2017 to January 2019, n = 123) and post-pandemic period (January 2023 to January 2025, n = 216).
Effector differentiation by stem-like intraepithelial γδ T cells is required for host defense against infection
Main text (Immunity 59, 1–21.e1–e7; March 10, 2026) During a post-publication review conducted by the authors, we identified labeling errors in Figures 1H, 2H, 6E, and S2J. In Figure 1H, the x-axis labels “Eff-like” and “Stem-like” were inadvertently reversed when the panel was reformatted from a horizontal to a vertical layout. In Figures 2H and S2J, the labels for CD160+ and CD160- γδIELs were inadvertently reversed during final assembly of the multi-panel figures.

Language model agents now execute bounded tasks reliably. Whether they can sustain effective decision-making over long horizons, where actions have cumulative consequences and the environment responds to their choices, remains largely unmeasured. FM-Bench (Football Management Benchmark) measures this. An LLM agent runs a football club for 20 in-game years through 26 tools and roughly 340 to 400 decision stops.
Author Correction: IL-17D-induced inhibition of DDX5 expression in keratinocytes amplifies IL-36R-mediated skin inflammation
Correction to: Nature Immunology https://doi.org/10.1038/s41590-022-01339-3, published online 21 October 2022. In the version of this article initially published, in Fig. 2, the representative flow cytometry panel in Fig. 2h and the GAPDH loading control in Fig. 2b were inadvertently duplicated. In addition, an incorrect total cell number on the y-axis of Fig. 2h was entered during figure assembly. In Fig. 3, the p-AKT panel in Fig. 3h was inadvertently duplicated from the p-p38 panel in Fig.

Effects of unilateral versus bilateral training on linear sprint and change-of-direction performance in athletes: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Background: Unilateral training may enhance sprint and change-of-direction (COD) performance in athletes, but existing evidence is inconclusive. Methods: We searched CNKI, PubMed, Web of Science, and EBSCO up to 1 September 2025 for randomized controlled trials comparing unilateral versus bilateral training in athletes and reporting speed-related outcomes. Methodological quality was assessed with PEDro.

Targeting PID1 generates oxysterols to switch macrophage cell fates for improved antitumor immunity
Abstract Disordered cholesterol–oxysterol profiles are observed in the tumor microenvironment, yet their roles in tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) remain underexplored. This study reveals that TAMs across human pan-cancers exhibit elevated phosphotyrosine interaction domain-containing protein 1 (PID1) expression and prominent immunosuppressive gene signatures.

Near-optimal discrimination of displaced squeezed binary signals using displacement, inverse-squeezing, and photon-number-resolving detection
Abstract We propose an inverse-squeezing Kennedy receiver for discriminating binary phase-shift-keyed displaced squeezed vacuum states. The receiver combines a Kennedy-type nulling displacement, an orthogonally oriented inverse-squeezing operation and photon-number-resolving detection with a maximum-a-posteriori threshold rule.

Charge symmetry breaking stabilizes high-valence Ru sites for proton exchange membrane electrolysis
Abstract High-valence Run+ (n > 4) sites possess high catalytic activity to negotiate the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis, but undergo thermodynamic instability. The synthesis of Ru-based catalysts with stable high-valence Ru sites remains challenging. Here, we present an interstitial nitrogen doping strategy to trigger a charge symmetry breaking for the stabilization of high-valence Ru sites in ruthenium dioxide.
Single-Cell Profiling Reveals Distinct Immune Communication Networks in Centenarians and Elderly Controls
1 Introduction Population aging is a global challenge, driving increased incidence of age-related diseases and escalating healthcare costs, making the promotion of healthy aging a public health priority (Bloom et al. 2015). Aging is a principal driver of age-related pathologies, with immunosenescence and disrupted intercellular communication recognized as central hallmarks.
A unique CD4⁺ T cell subset expressing granzyme K is regulated by transcription factor EOMES and important for T cell-mediated intestinal inflammation
Abstract CD4⁺ helper T (TH) cells consist of multiple functional subsets defined by specific effector cytokines and transcription factors. Recently, single-cell transcriptomic analyses have revealed possible existence of additional populations. Here we identify a unique CD4⁺ T cell subset in mouse and human colitis characterized by high levels of granzyme K (Gzmk) expression, designated as THK cells.

Analysis of the three-dimensional genome of exhausted CD8+ T cells reveals a critical role of IRF8 in their differentiation and functions in cancer - Nature Immunology
Abstract CD8+ T cells are rendered exhausted in cancer, accompanied by extensive changes in the epigenome. However, whether and how higher-order chromatin organization is involved in exhausted CD8+ T cell differentiation is unclear. Here, we show extensive changes in the three-dimensional genome during T cell exhaustion associated with changes in gene transcription.
Guidelines for T cell nomenclature - Nature Reviews Immunology
|
Abstract Advances in T cell biology have revealed heterogeneity among T cell populations that is not captured by existing general nomenclature. This issue has caused an ad hoc broadening of core T cell subset definitions and the invention of new subset designations that have not been uniformly delineated. To address this issue, in this Consensus Statement, we propose guidelines that serve three goals.

Ms4a7 expression in cDC1s determines cross-presentation and antitumor immunity
Editor’s summary Tumor antigen capture and cross-presentation by type I conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) are critical for initiating antitumor CD8+ T cell immunity. However, how this important process is regulated by the tumor microenvironment remains unclear. Xie et al. report that membrane-spanning 4-domains subfamily A member 7 (Ms4a7) expression in mouse cDC1s promotes CD8+ T cell cross-priming in tumors. Loss of Ms4a7 in cDC1s impairs antigen-specific CD8+ T cell responses against tumors.

Global statistics in 2020 indicated that 905,677 new cases of HCC were diagnosed, ranked as the second cancer-related death [2]. Up to 75% of HCC occurs in Asia, and China has nearly 50% of the total [3].
