Seismo-ripples | npj Natural Hazards
Abstract Earthquake prediction has long been considered one of the greatest challenges in the global scientific community due to the complex and uncertain nature of seismogenic processes, along with the prevailing consensus that earthquakes are inherently unpredictable. Here, we present a novel and potentially transformative concept—seismo-ripples—resonance signals consistently observed in seismic, magnetic, and ionospheric data prior to major earthquakes.

Lycopene attenuates ischemic-hypoxic injury in random skin flaps via the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway
Abstract Random skin flaps are commonly used in plastic and reconstructive surgeries. However, one of the most serious postoperative complications is the necrosis of distal portion of flap, which is mainly caused by a lack of blood flow. The nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor 2 (Nrf2) can directly regulate the activity of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1).

New perspectives on the morphological evolution of bronze Ding in pre-Qin China through large-scale images analysis
Abstract The bronze Ding, as the core material carrier of the ritual system in the pre-Qin period (1600–221 BCE), has long lacked a clear explanation of its morphological evolution. Traditional research paradigms face limitations in systematically revealing spatiotemporal evolution patterns and underlying driving factors.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis IDH-PPARγ interaction suppresses GPX4 to drive macrophage ferroptosis and sustain persistent infection
|
Abstract Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) actively reprograms host lipid metabolism during infection; however, the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. How M.tb manipulates macrophage lipid metabolism to induce lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis for bacterial persistence remains a fundamental question. Here, using single-cell RNA sequencing and proteomics, we show that M.tb infection substantially upregulates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) in macrophages.

Inference of upstream-mutation and metabolomic-signature causality identifies prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in pancreatic cancer
Abstract Genomic mutations in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are hypothesized to drive poor prognosis and low response rates to targeted therapy through crosstalk among downstream regulatory networks. Here, we apply a causal inference-based approach, Mutation-Upstream-of-Metabolomic-Signature (MUMS), to show that prognostic serum metabolomic signatures can capture such crosstalk and reflect the collective impact of mutation-driven networks on tumor progression.
Maternal obesity induces macrophage to myofibroblast transition in kidneys of male offspring through a pathway driven by 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid
Abstract Over 800 million people globally suffer from chronic kidney disease (CKD). Maternal obesity has emerged as a risk factor for CKD in offspring, but the mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we use mouse models of maternal obesity to investigate macrophage involvement in offspring kidneys. Multi-omics analyses revealed that maternal obesity accelerates kidney disease in male offspring through dysregulated crosstalk between proximal tubules (PT) and macrophages.
