From initial complete response to recurrence: ENPP1 mutation drives cisplatin resistance through STING/NF-κB/IL-6 axis in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract Induction chemotherapy proves critical in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC). However, the mechanisms of acquired resistance to induction chemotherapy have not been fully elucidated yet. Nine patients with HPSCC who showed an initial response to IC followed by progression and had available paired paraffin-embedded tissue samples were retrospectively analysed.
A wearable-to-implant wireless power transfer technology with variation tolerance
Abstract Advances in soft materials and device architectures have led to the development of fully implantable bioelectronic systems. However, reliable wireless power transfer for such systems remains challenging, particularly under dynamic physiological conditions. Conventional inductive coupling suffers from unstable power delivery due to coil misalignment, mechanical deformation and load impedance fluctuations, which disrupt the resonance.
Revealing genetic foundations underlying cardiometabolic traits: integrating twin and GWAS data in Asian populations
Abstract Traditional twin studies have reported high heritability estimates for common cardiometabolic traits, yet discrepancies compared to genome-wide association studies (GWAS) derived estimates underscore the effects of “missing heritability”, potentially attributed to genetic interactions and environmental influences. However, research exploring potential contributors to missing heritability in cardiometabolic phenotypes remains scarce and largely confined to European populations.
Understanding personal information disclosure in short video apps through gratification and addictive use
Abstract Although previous research has explored app users’ personal information disclosure, the underlying mechanisms remain insufficiently addressed. Drawing upon uses and gratifications (U&G) theory and Internet addiction literature, this study proposes a motivation-based framework, termed the Gratification-Addiction-Fatigue-Use (G-A-F-U), to understand personal information disclosure in short video apps.
Developing digital experiments using generative artificial intelligence
Digital experiments based on microcontrollers and sensors have become increasingly important in physics education because of their advantages in measurement accuracy, sampling rate, and data visualization.1–4 However, developing such experiments often requires knowledge of embedded systems and programming, creating barriers for many physics teachers. Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) provide new opportunities to lower these barriers.
Significant enrichment of aerobic methanotrophs drives rapid consumption of methane in hydrothermally impacted deep waters
Abstract Deep-sea hydrothermal vents release large amounts of methane gas from the Earth’s interior to the overlying ocean where it is microbially oxidized before reaching the atmosphere. However, the magnitude of aerobic methane oxidation and activity of methanotrophic communities in hydrothermal plume-impacted waters remain poorly constrained.
Facet-Dependent Activity of Fe 3 S 4 Crystal in Peroxydisulfate Activation for Organic Pollutants Degradation

SBRT embedded in low-dose RT plus αPD-1 (immuno-EclipseRT, iERT) elicits CD8 + T cell immunity against bulky tumors via an IFN-I/NK/DC axis
|
Abstract Bulky tumors remain challenging to treat, and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), alone or combined with conventional radiotherapy (RT), yield limited efficacy. We present EclipseRT (ERT), an RT technique that delivers low-dose RT (LDRT) to the gross tumor volume (GTV) and stereotactic body RT (SBRT) to selected subvolume(s) within the GTV. Combined with ICIs (iERT), this approach achieves marked control of bulky tumors through the coordinated activity of NK and CD8⁺ T cells.

Efficient preservation of old methane-derived organic carbon in deep-sea surface sediments
Abstract Methane released from the subseafloor is significantly attenuated during upward migration, yet the preservation of methane-derived organic carbon (OC) in global deep-sea sediments remains poorly understood. Here, we measured carbon isotopes coupled with temperature-ramped analyses on various methane seepage sediments. Our results reveal a correlation between the radiocarbon (14C) content in deep-sea surface sediments and sulfate-methane transition depth.
The gut-bone axis: impact of diet on gut microbiome and osteoporosis
Abstract Osteoporosis, a global health challenge characterized by reduced bone mineral density (BMD) and increased fracture risk, is closely linked to interactions between dietary patterns and gut microbiota (GM). Recent advances in GM research highlight the gut-bone axis as a pivotal focus in osteoporosis studies, revealing that variations in dietary habits and nutrient intake differentially modulate GM composition and metabolic activity, thereby influencing skeletal health.

Single-cell network analysis reveals gene expression programs for Arabidopsis epidermis development and metabolism
INTRODUCTION The shoot epidermis plays essential roles in plant development, growth, and defense, while also mediating gas exchange and environmental signal perception. In Arabidopsis thaliana, the L1 layer of the shoot apical meristem (SAM) gives rise to the protoderm, the precursor of all epidermal cells. The epidermis mainly consists of three specialized cell types—pavement cells, stomata, and trichomes—all derived from protodermal cells (Geisler et al., 2000; Larkin et al., 1996).
