Association of preserved ratio impaired spirometry and restrictive spirometric pattern with incident atrial fibrillation: a cohort study
Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). To our knowledge, no studies have examined the association of preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) or restrictive spirometric pattern (RSP) with incident AF. We included participants without prevalent AF who had incident AF ascertainment and available spirometry and excluded those with airflow limitation.
A general intermediate representation and SDN-orchestrated testbed for cross-scenario ICS crowdsourced security testing
Abstract Industrial control system (ICS) security crowdsourcing can broaden test coverage, but heterogeneous protocols, scenario-specific scripts, and concurrent access complicate portable and accountable execution. We propose Generalized Industrial Crowdsourced Security Testing (GICST), a prototype framework that combines a Test Case Intermediate Representation (TC-IR) with an SDN-orchestrated execution layer.
CDK2-mediated phosphorylation of TRF1 S11 facilitates DNA damage repair by remodeling telomeric chromatin
Abstract Telomeres, coated by the shelterin complex, prevent end-to-end fusions and aberrant DNA repair, yet how telomere-binding proteins coordinate chromatin remodeling during the DNA damage response remains unclear. Here we show that the telomeric protein TRF1 is phosphorylated at serine 11 (S11) in response to DNA double-strand breaks, a modification that enhances cellular resistance to DNA damage.

m 6 A RNA modification guides alternative polyadenylation to maintain T cell quiescence
|
Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) is primarily enriched in the last exons and 3′ untranslated regions (3′UTRs) of messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and is associated with T cell homeostasis. Upon T cell activation, global mRNA 3′UTR shortening is facilitated through alternative polyadenylation (APA).

Temporal and spatial atlas of eosinophil specialization across tissues - Nature Immunology
Abstract Eosinophils are multifunctional granulocytes involved in immune regulation, metabolism and tissue repair; however, the extent of their heterogeneity across tissues and the principles governing their specialization are not well defined. Here, we present a single-cell transcriptomic and proteomic atlas of mouse eosinophils spanning immune, barrier and metabolic sites.
tRNA m1A modification is essential for gut homeostasis and function of group 3 innate lymphoid cells - Cell Discovery
Abstract Group 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) play crucial roles in maintaining intestinal homeostasis and defending against bacterial infections. However, the epigenetic mechanisms that regulate ILC3 responses are not well understood. In this study, we show that Trmt61a, the methyltransferase responsible for the m1A58 tRNA modification, is predominantly expressed in ILC3s. We found that specific depletion of TRMT61A in ILC3s leads to dysregulated cell cycle and a reduction in cell numbers.
Exploration of hanging coffin customs and the bo people in China through comparative genomics - Nature Communications
Abstract The Hanging Coffin represents a distinctive mortuary tradition practiced across southern China, Southeast Asia (e.g., the Log Coffin), and the Pacific approximately 3,000 years. Historical records attribute this funerary practice to the Bo people, a group that largely disappeared from documented history by the end of the Ming Dynasty (1,368–1,644 AD).

Transcription factors TCF4 and KLF4 respectively control the development of the DC2A and DC2B lineages - Nature Immunology
Abstract Conventional dendritic cells (cDCs) are a heterogeneous population of professional antigen-presenting cells that bridge innate and adaptive immunity. Many studies in mice have identified various populations of cDCs whose inter-relationships and discrete identities, as well as their link to plasmacytoid DCs (pDCs), have not been cohesively addressed.
Multiple infections with Omicron variants increase breadth and potency of Omicron-specific neutralizing antibodies - Cell Discovery
Abstract Despite high vaccination rates, highly evolved Omicron variants have caused widespread infections and, in some cases, recurrent infections in the human population. As the population continues to be threatened by new variants, it is critical to understand how the dynamic cross-reactive antibody response evolves and affects protection.
Integrated analysis of the complete sequence of a macaque genome - Nature
Abstract The crab-eating macaques (Macaca fascicularis) and rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) are pivotal in biomedical and evolutionary research1,2,3. Long-Range Enhancer Networks Gradually Emerge as Key Regulators During Human Cortical Neurogenesis
Abstract The chromatin in the human brain cortex shows more enhancer-enhancer contacts than in macaques and mice, yet the organization of these contacts across cellular states and their mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we developed SCOPE-C, a cost-effective technique designed for mapping DNase I Hypersensitive Sites and their spatial interactions, with the potential for scalability to single-cell resolution.
ATP6AP1 was Phast-ID’ed as a long-sought GEF for Rheb - Cell Research
A new study from Feng et al. developed an improved proximity labeling technology called PhastID and successfully identified the lysosomal v-ATPase subunit ATP6AP1 as an unconventional guanine nucleotide exchange factor for Rheb, a key positive regulator of mTORC1. ATP6AP1 binds directly to Rheb via a highly conserved C-terminal segment to promote its GTP loading and mTORC1 activation.

FOXP3+ regulatory T cell perturbation mediated by the IFNγ-STAT1-IFITM3 feedback loop is essential for anti-tumor immunity - Nature Communications
Abstract Targeting tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells (Tregs) is an efficient way to evoke an anti-tumor immune response. However, how Tregs maintain their fragility and stability remains largely unknown. IFITM3 and STAT1 are interferon-induced genes that play a positive role in the progression of tumors. Here, we showed that IFITM3-deficient Tregs blunted tumor growth by strengthening the tumor-killing response and displayed the Th1-like Treg phenotype with higher secretion of IFNγ.

Immunological modulation in health and disease - Cellular & Molecular Immunology
The immune system is a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs that protect the body from pathogens and diseases. It consists of two interconnected branches: the innate immune response and the adaptive immune response. The innate immune response is the body’s first line of defense against pathogens and acts promptly upon encountering them. It consists of physical barriers such as skin and mucous membranes and innate immune cells such as neutrophils, macrophages, and natural killer cells.

ILC3 plasticity in microbiome-mediated tumor progression and immunotherapy
The precise role of intestinal ILC3s in cancer remains largely unknown. Published in Cell, Goc et al. describe ILC3 function and plasticity in tumors. ILC3s may lose their identity and thus become either ILC1s or exhausting-ILC3s, which could in turn reshape the gut microbiome for colorectal cancer progression and immunotherapy resistance.
