Structured-sequential denoising for ring-based photoacoustic tomography
Abstract Electromagnetic interference (EMI) in photoacoustic tomography (PAT) can arise from receive-chain electronics, grounding paths, laser/DAQ synchronization, and environmental coupling, and may appear as structured stripe artifacts and baseline drift in raw channel data. In this work, we propose a physics-motivated, structure-aware, learning-free Structured-Sequential Denoising (SSD) framework for ring-based PAT.

Why some US Republicans want to punish Australia over new charges for tech giants
The US Capitol. Photo: Bobt54 / CC BY 3.0 Earlier this month, the federal government passed laws to encourage tech giants to pay Australian news businesses for journalism. This is known as the News Bargaining Incentive. For companies earning A$250 million or more in annual Australian digital advertising revenue (likely to include Meta, Google and TikTok), the scheme imposes a 2.75% charge on this revenue.

Lower invasiveness of papillary thyroid carcinoma associated with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis: evidence from AJCC 8th-edition stratification and a dose–response relationship with autoantibody titers
Abstract Background: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) frequently coexist, but the precise impact of HT on PTC invasiveness — particularly across the strict American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8th-edition extrathyroidal extension (ETE) categories — remains incompletely characterized.
Vector-related improvements in JDK 21 and JDK 25 compared with JDK 17 on AArch64
Executive summary Java developers running workloads on Arm may be able to unlock meaningful performance gains simply by upgrading the JDK. Compared with JDK 17, JDK 21 and JDK 25 enable HotSpot to generate more efficient AArch64 code through improved C2 auto-vectorization and new NEON- and SVE-accelerated intrinsics, often without requiring any application source changes. The performance gains depend on the workload, CPU features, vector length, data types, and loop shapes.
The Cognate Facilitation Effect of L2–L3 Cognates in Chinese–English–Spanish Trilinguals: The Role of L2 Proficiency
1 Introduction Cognates are cross-linguistic lexical terms that share orthographic and semantic similarity across two or more languages (e.g., situation in English, situación in Spanish, and situação in Portuguese). In multilingual contexts, cognates can be further classified according to the number and status of the languages involved (Lemhöfer et al.

On w-faithfully flat algebras
In this paper, we characterize the -faithfully flat algebra by the -module theory, and we prove that a -flat -linked -algebra is -faithfully flat if and only if is surjective, where is the set of prime -ideals of , and is the set of prime -ideals of . Let be a field and let with defined over the field . Set and . It is well-known that as -module is not flat and hence the polynomial ring as -modules is flat. But we prove that is a faithfully flat -algebra where .
Molecular basis of glutamine synthetase mediated utilization of ethanolamine from Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Abstract Glutamine synthetase (GS) is a central enzyme in nitrogen metabolism. However, the molecular mechanisms whereby mycobacteria exploit the abundant polyamines and monoamine remain largely unexplored. This study demonstrates that all four Mycobacterium tuberculosis GS isoforms exhibit catalytic activity toward polyamine and monoamine substrates, with MtbGS3 showing exceptional catalytic efficiency for utilizing ethanolamine via interactions involving critical residues S54 and E190.
How Australia’s new negative gearing rules might accidentally favour some property investors
By Fei Gao and Richard Krever For the best part of a century, Australian property investors have enjoyed a generous tax arrangement found in few other countries: the infamous “negative gearing”. Now, sweeping reforms to limit negative gearing to new builds and also change the way capital gains are taxed have become law. The federal government hopes to give first-home buyers a better shot at buying existing homes and at the same time redirect investor cash towards increasing housing supply.

mTORC1 suppression by Trp53 mutation drives resistance to immune checkpoint blockade
Abstract p53 is a critical tumor suppressor gene that inhibits cancer development by regulating cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, DNA repair, and metabolism. However, recent studies examining TP53 mutations in cancer immunotherapy have yielded inconsistent results, likely due to differences in tumor mutational burden (TMB) and the context-dependent roles of specific p53 mutants.

How the proposed $1000 tax offset works, and who’s better off avoiding it
When Australian workers lodge a tax return from mid next year, around 6 million taxpayers look set to be able to claim up to A$1,000 with an “instant” work-related tax deduction, without receipts. The Albanese government has just released draft legislation on the change. That deduction is higher than the little-known $300 limit on receipt-free work deductions available today.

Tidal dynamics in Kompong Som Bay, Cambodia: an FVCOM modeling study
Abstract To improve the limited quantitative understanding of tidal hydrodynamics in Kompong Som Bay (Cambodia), we developed a three-dimensional FVCOM model for the Gulf of Thailand with local refinement in the bay and simulated April 2018–April 2019. Model performance was evaluated using a 25-hour ADCP record in the bay, supplemented by a half-month hourly tide-gauge record at Ko Lak and published K1 harmonic constants at six additional stations.
Nucleolar migration regulates meiotic sex chromosome inactivation via phase separation during mammalian spermatogenesis
Abstract During spermatogenesis, the unsynapsed XY chromosomes undergo meiotic sex chromosome inactivation (MSCI) and form a heterochromatic XY body. Defects in MSCI lead to meiotic arrest and male infertility. Although DNA damage response (DDR) factors are established as key initiators of MSCI, how transcriptional silencing is subsequently achieved remains elusive. Here, we identify the nucleolar components NPM1, SENP3, and rRNA as essential downstream effectors of DDR signaling in MSCI.
