Institutional Cross-Ownership and Asset–Liability Maturity Mismatches: Evidence From Chinese Listed Firms
1 Introduction The role of institutional investors1 (mutual funds, insurance firms, etc.) in influencing the financial decisions of owned firms has long attracted scholarly attention (Gillan and Starks 2000). To protect the value of their equity investments, they may provide corporate governance services to owned firms (Smith 1996). Since institutional investors are viewed as possessing superior information gathering and processing abilities over traditional investors (Dyck et al.

When reinforcement learning (RL) is used for post-training automatic speech recognition (ASR), the reward almost always lives in the text space: it compares a hypothesis with the reference and never checks whether the hypothesis is supported by the audio. On highly regular speech this licenses a shortcut - guessing from a strong language prior rather than listening.
Long noncoding RNA associations with an IFI27–MCEMP1 transcript pattern in Kawasaki disease
Abstract Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute pediatric vasculitis with risk of coronary artery injury. A two-transcript IFI27–MCEMP1 score has distinguished KD from other febrile illnesses, but its relationship to long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) is incompletely defined. We evaluated whether peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) lncRNA expression differed between KD and febrile controls and was associated with the IFI27–MCEMP1 transcript pattern.
Dipole glasses unlock the cryogenic frontier of energy storage
Unit-cell-level dipole frustration suppresses polar freezing, enabling efficient capacitive energy storage at liquid-helium temperatures.
Parenting styles and Chinese preschoolers' moral sensitivity: domain-specific associations and moderating roles of child gender and age
Abstract Parenting is widely regarded as an important factor in children's early moral development. The present study examined the associations between maternal and paternal parenting styles (emotional warmth, overprotection, and rejection) and preschool children's moral sensitivity across the five moral foundation domains (care, fairness, loyalty, authority, and purity) in a Chinese sample, and tested whether child gender and age moderated these associations.
A meaning alignment framework integrating consumer and design perspectives for green food packaging decision support
Abstract As green consumption continues to expand, food packaging has become a critical medium for communicating sustainability information. Its design directly affects how green information is recognised and understood. However, existing studies typically adopt either a consumer perspective or a design perspective in isolation, with limited efforts to systematically integrate the two for decision-making support.
When Privileged Guidance Misaligns: State-Matched Routing and Contextualized Self-Distillation for Multi-Turn Agents
Published on Aug 5 · Submitted by Junzhuo Liu on Aug 10 #3 Paper of the day Abstract Privileged on-policy distillation provides dense supervision for multi-turn agents by allowing a synchronized teacher to re-score the student's response at every turn with access to training-only references, such as successful trajectories. In interactive environments, however, the student's preceding actions continually change the execution state.
Esculentoside A mitigates oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis in spinal cord injury by modulating the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway
Abstract Objective: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a profoundly disabling condition affecting the central nervous system. Neuronal apoptosis constitutes a critical pathological event leading to neurological dysfunctions, which is further exacerbated by oxidative stress following SCI. Esculentoside A (EsA), a bioactive saponin isolated from Phytolaca esculenta, exhibits neuroprotective potential in our preliminary studies.
Idealised memories, identity continuity and micro-resistance: exploring video game nostalgia among Chinese World of Warcraft players
ABSTRACT Playing classic video games is a popular leisure activity that is driven by nostalgia for the days of yore. Although prior studies recognise players as active participants, they often overlook their agency in shaping nostalgic experiences, limiting understanding of their motivations. We aim to investigate the nostalgic experiences among World of Warcraft (WoW) players in China.

Molecular signatures and lineage diversification of neurogenic and gliogenic radial glia in the gyrencephalic ferret cortex
Abstract Human exceptional cognition stems from evolutionarily derived cortical adaptations that drive expansive neurogenesis. In this study, we employ the gyrencephalic ferret model to systematically characterize the molecular profiles and lineage dynamics of cortical radial glia (RGs). By applying scRNA-Seq to ferret and human cortices, we identify conserved regulatory programs underlying cortical neurogenesis and gliogenesis.
Coronary artery calcium and thoracic aortic calcification on non–ECG–gated chest CT in a large community-based cohort of Chinese men and women
Abstract Aims: Non-ECG-gated chest CT frequently identifies coronary artery calcification (CAC) and thoracic aortic calcification (TAC), but age- and sex-specific thresholds remain unclear in Chinese communities. The ACC/AHA guideline recommends statins for those with CAC ≥75th percentile1. In subgroups with CAC positivity rate ≤25%, any detectable CAC corresponds to the ≥75th percentile.

An improved watershed-based algorithm for ore image segmentation
Abstract Ore particle size is a critical indicator of ore fragmentation and a key parameter for automated mineral processing. However, traditional ore image segmentation methods suffer from low accuracy, severe under-segmentation, and weak adaptability in complex mining scenarios, while few approaches effectively balance precision and efficiency. To fill this gap, this paper proposes a novel segmentation method that combines an improved distance transform with the watershed algorithm.
Cetuximab plus capecitabine every three weeks as first-line maintenance therapy for RAS/BRAF wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer: a phase Ib dose-escalation study
Abstract Cetuximab plus fluoropyrimidine every two weeks (Q2W) is a common maintenance approach for RAS/BRAF wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer, but is limited by infusion burden and schedule misalignment. We conducted a phase Ib, nonrandomized 3 + 3 dose-escalation study evaluating cetuximab (400-700 mg/m2) every three weeks (Q3W) synchronized with capecitabine (1000 mg/m2 twice daily, days 1-14 every 21-day cycle) after first-line induction without disease progression.
Electrohydrodynamic printed ultra-high performance liquid metal strain sensor
Abstract Liquid metals exhibit excellent fluidity and strain adaptability, offering promising applications in flexible electronics, human-machine interaction, and soft robotics. However, due to the low viscosity and high surface tension of liquid metals, achieving ultraprecise patterning remains challenging, thereby limiting device integration and electrical response.
Development of a novel external fixation device for inducing knee arthrofibrosis in rats
Abstract Arthrofibrosis (AF) is a common pathological condition characterized by joint dysfunction. However, traditional non-invasive external fixation methods are difficult to maintain on the small limbs of rats. This study aimed to develop a novel, non-invasive, and stable rat model of knee arthrofibrosis using a thermoplastic polymer resin. Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into a Sham group and immobilization groups (1, 2, 4, and 6 weeks).
OsGSK2-OsTCP19 Module Integrates Nitrogen and Brassinosteroid Signaling to Regulate Nitrogen Utilization and Root Growth in Rice
1 Introduction Plants have evolved sophisticated regulatory networks for adaptation to dynamic nutrient availability. Nitrogen (N), a limiting macronutrient, shapes plant architecture primarily via ammonium (NH4+) and nitrate (NO3−) in soils. Beyond its nutritional role, nitrate acts as a signal to trigger genome-wide transcriptional reprogramming, enabling adaptive phenotypic plasticity.
Cortistatin antagonizes Piezo1-STING axis and facilitates mitochondrial homeostasis of keratinocytes by attenuating AGEs accumulation in diabetic ulcers
Abstract Diabetic complications frequently arise in mechanically stressed regions, yet the molecular links between biomechanical forces and metabolic dysfunction remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that mechanical stress induces glucose accumulation and downstream metabolic stress in keratinocytes.

Intrinsically charge-generating polymers with long-lived free carriers for efficient photon-to-hydrogen conversion
Abstract A single organic semiconductor typically struggles with inefficient intrinsic charge generation due to large binding energy (EB ≈ 0.5 electron volts) of Frenkel excitons, particularly in narrow-bandgap organic semiconductors that exhibit near-infrared (NIR) absorption. Here, we develop double-cable polymer–based nanoparticles (NPs), enabling single-component organic photocatalysts to achieve NIR photon absorption and generate long-lived free charges simultaneously.

Revealing electron transport connectivity as an important factor influencing stability of organic solar cells - Nature Communications
Abstract In the pursuit of advancing the commercialization of organic solar cells (OSCs), stability emerges as a paramount challenge. Herein, we show that the electron transport connectivity is a key factor determining the electron transport and device stability of OSCs. When compared to small molecular acceptors (SMAs), the larger-size polymeric acceptors (PAs) are likely to establish an electron transport network with superior connectivity.
Demonstrating Hierarchical System Development With the Common Community Physics Package Single‐Column Model: A Case Study Over the Southern Great Plains
1 Introduction A substantial amount of research has reinforced that the systematic errors in numerical weather or climate prediction can be intricately linked to missing or poorly represented physical processes (e.g., Pincus et al. 2003; Li et al. 2014; Li, Wang, and Peng 2016; Ye et al. 2022).
Light field-controlled PHz currents in intrinsic metals
Abstract Oriented electric currents in metals are routinely driven by applying an external electric potential. Although the response of electrons to the external electric fields occurs within attoseconds, conventional electronics do not use this speed potential. Ultrashort laser pulses with controlled shapes of electric fields that switch direction at petahertz frequencies open perspectives for driving currents in metals.
