According to government documents, Diana Ruff, a judge with the Benton and Franklin Counties Superior Court, announced her resignation from the bench on January 23, 2026. Her resignation goes into effect on June 30.

Court hearing for off-duty WSP trooper accused of fatal DUI delayed to August

RICHLAND, Wash. – The court process for Sarah Clasen, the off-duty Washington State Patrol trooper charged with DUI vehicular homicide, has been delayed by several months as the date of her omnibus hearing was pushed back. Clasen is facing trial for DUI vehicular homicide after officials say she hit and killed a motorcyclist while off-duty in March 2025 in Richland. According to court records, a blood draw taken nearly six hours after the crash showed Clasen's blood alcohol content was .17.

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The site of a proposed less restrictive housing (LRA) unit in Kennewick for sexually violent predators appears to be no more. According to Save Our Children Tri-Cities (SOCT), they were contacted by the owners of the home at 5304 West 8th Avenue, who said they were ready to sell. Joe Field, the man who was set to manage the LRA home, also reached out and said he is no longer associated with the property. Field currently operates a similar establishment in Walla Walla.
