Artificial intelligence for atmospheric chemistry: from observation to process understanding
Abstract Understanding the sources and evolution of air pollutants is difficult because emissions, meteorology, transport, and atmospheric chemistry interact across different spatial and temporal scales. Chemical transport models provide process-based descriptions but are computationally demanding, while receptor models infer source contributions from observations and depend on simplifying assumptions.
Rare variant analysis reveals divergent genetic architectures of directly selected and correlated silkworm traits
Abstract Correlational selection acts on combinations of correlated traits, driving multivariate phenotypic evolution, yet how it differentially shapes direct versus correlated traits remains unclear. Through rare variant association analysis of silkworm silk-yield traits, we reveal divergent genetic architectures of the direct traits cocoon shell weight (CSW) and ratio (CSR) versus the correlated traits cocoon and pupal weight (CW and PW).

Dynamic Solvation Structure Boosts Long-Life and High-Capacity Aqueous Zn Batteries
1 Introduction With the development of sustainable alternatives to lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, aqueous Zn metal batteries (AZMBs) have attracted more attention due to their high theoretical capacity (820 mA g−1 and 5855 mAh cm−3) and abundant Zn source supply, as well as their high operational safety [1-4].

The price tag to clean up orphan oil and gas wells in Alberta increased by nearly 50 per cent since last year, bringing the estimated total to $1.66 …
Particulate air pollution undermines plant water-use efficiency by inhibiting photosynthesis
Abstract Rising atmospheric CO2 and climate change have generally enhanced plant water-use efficiency (WUE), yet the influence of fine particulate pollution (PM2.5) on this carbon–water coupling remains poorly understood. Drawing on a global database of tree-ring isotopes, eddy-covariance fluxes and satellite-derived vegetation metrics, here we show that PM2.5 exerts a predominantly negative influence on WUE across spatial scales.
Sintilimab plus Bevacizumab biosimilar IBI305 and chemotherapy as a first-line treatment in advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma (SBAGA): a single-arm, phase Ib/II study

Thermally evaporated perovskite/silicon tandems via formamidinium eutectic
|
Abstract Solution processing remains the dominant route to high-performance perovskite/silicon tandems, but it remains challenging to simultaneously achieve industrial scalability and long-term reliability.1-3 Thermal evaporation is more industrially viable, yet it has not been successfully demonstrated for large-area perovskite/Si tandems, largely due to the thermal degradation of formamidinium iodide (FAI) during high-temperature evaporation.

Association of trajectories and cumulative exposure of modified cardiometabolic index with cardiovascular disease in middle and older adults
Abstract The Modified Cardiometabolic Index (MCMI), a new composite indicator, combines glucose, lipid metabolism, and fat accumulation levels and serves as an alternative predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, no prospective evidence exists linking long-term MCMI change patterns to Incident CVD.

A nucleus accumbens-projecting prefrontal cortex circuit underlies chronic social stress-induced depression-like behaviors
Abstract Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a prevalent and debilitating psychiatric illness with limited treatment success. While chronic social stress is a well-established risk factor, the neural circuits that determine individual susceptibility or resilience to MDD remain poorly defined.
Selective radial thickness growth of compositionally graded shells on colloidal quantum rods for more efficient light-emitting diodes
Abstract Colloidal quantum nanorods (NRs) exhibit linearly polarized emission and fast radiative recombination owing to their two-dimensional confinement, enabling high-performance light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, due to facet-dependent growth kinetics, anisotropic shell growth often leads to preferential overgrowth along the long axis and insufficient radial (short axis) coverage.
Robust self-assembled monolayer enables ultraviolet stable perovskite photovoltaics
Abstract Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have boosted perovskite solar cell (PSCs) efficiencies, but their ultrathin nature causes structural vulnerability under outdoor solar illumination, particularly in the ultraviolet (UV) regime, limiting long-term operation and practical deployment of PSCs. Extensive experiments with ab initio molecular dynamics reveal conventional SAMs undergo rapid structural degradation under UV irradiation, leading to molecular desorption and film collapse.
Reliability and validity of the death anxiety scale in patients with mental illnesses in a general hospital

The aim of this study was to explore the reliability and validity of the death anxiety scale (DAS) in the context of mental illnesses in a general hospital. Methods: Patients with generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, major depressive disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder or somatic symptom disorder were included in the study. Internal consistency was explored using Cronbach’s α.
Lipid metabolic regulation of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by β-amyloid deposition, tau pathology, and sustained neuroinflammation. Increasing evidence indicates that dysregulated lipid metabolism is not merely a metabolic disturbance but a critical modulator of inflammatory responses driving AD pathogenesis. The brain, one of the most lipid-enriched organs, relies on tightly controlled lipid homeostasis to maintain neuronal function and synaptic integrity.

High-resolution aerosol liquid water content in the contiguous United States using machine learning
Abstract Aerosol liquid water content (ALWC) plays an important role in climate and public health by influencing aerosol formation, chemical composition, and toxicity. However, ALWC remains sparsely measured and poorly constrained across space and time, despite its large variability. In this study, we derived a high-resolution (1 km × 1 km, daily) ALWC dataset for the contiguous US from 2000 to 2019.
Prefusion-stabilized Hantaan virus glycoprotein nucleic acid vaccine elicits potent neutralizing antibody responses via germinal center activation
Abstract Old World orthohantaviruses, including Hantaan virus (HTNV), cause hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Eurasia. Mast Cell‐Derived CXCL4: A Key Mediator of Ferroptosis and Cardiac Damage in Septic Cardiomyopathy
1 Introduction Sepsis is capable of inducing organ dysfunction, which typically stems from the host's inadequate immune response to infectious agents [1]. Septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) is an acute myocardial injury mediated by sepsis [2, 3]. Statistical data indicates that the mortality rate of septic patients complicated with myocardial injury is as high as 70%–90% [4]. Despite the extensive research efforts devoted to septic cardiomyopathy, its underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood.

Single-Atom Catalysis with Anion-Enriched Environments for Enhanced Stability of Zn–I2 Batteries
Aqueous zinc metal batteries (AZMBs) have attracted widespread attention due to their environmentally friendly, nonflammable electrolyte, abundant zinc reserves, low cost (∼US$2–3 kg –1 , metal Zn), high theoretical capacity (820 mAh g –1 , 5855 mAh cm –3 ), and low potential (−0.76 V vs SHE), making them promising for large-scale storage, grid regulation, and portable applications. (1−4) Despite these advantages, developing stable cathodes remains a challenge.
