Hydrogel-based delivery of extracellular vesicles for skin wound healing: design strategies, therapeutic mechanisms, and translational perspectives
Abstract Skin wound healing remains a formidable clinical challenge. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have attracted considerable attention as therapeutic candidates for wound repair, given their intrinsic capacities to modulate inflammation, promote angiogenesis, and stimulate tissue regeneration. Hydrogels, with favorable biocompatibility, tunable degradation, and sustained-release properties, serve as candidate EV delivery platforms.
Divergent fates of antibiotic resistance genes in free-living versus particle-attached bacteria: An EPS stoichiometric framework
Abstract Antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in aquatic environments are conventionally surveyed as a bulk pool, yet partition across two ecologically distinct lifestyles—free-living (FL) and particle-attached (PA)—whose extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) chemistry, horizontal-gene-transfer (HGT) regimes, and treatment vulnerabilities differ fundamentally.
KDM4B-mediated AP2A1-K217 demethylation promotes immune evasion and anti-PD-1 therapy resistance in renal cell carcinoma
Abstract The role of non-histone lysine methylation in tumorigenesis has attracted increasing attention, and the dysregulated “writers”, “erasers” and “readers” of it are promising therapeutic targets. In this study, we demonstrated that lysine-specific demethylase 4B (KDM4B) was significantly upregulated in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), with high expression correlating with poor prognosis and immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) resistance.
Beyond the first target-range blood pressure: persistent multidomain physiologic abnormalities and mortality in trauma-associated shock
Abstract Conventional blood-pressure targets may be reached during trauma resuscitation while metabolic, thermal, and coagulation abnormalities persist. We examined whether this residual burden was associated with mortality. MIMIC-IV v3.1 was primary; eICU provided a common-variable cross-database analysis. The index was the first ICU hour with mean arterial pressure ≥ 65 mmHg or systolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mmHg; prior hypotension was not required.

Synergistic interfacial-mechanical binder design for high-areal-capacity and long-lifespan Si-based negative electrodes in practical pouch cells
Abstract The pursuit of high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries demands high-silicon silicon-graphite composite negative electrodes, yet their commercialization remains hindered by interfacial incompatibility and mechanical instability. While an ideal binder must simultaneously achieve robust adhesion to both silicon and graphite, accommodate substantial silicon volume changes, and maintain high binder bulk stability, existing systems fail to harmonize these requirements.
Deep learning-based time-series model for predicting high-temperature oxidation behavior in austenitic heat-resistant steels
Abstract Austenitic heat-resistant steels (AHSs) are widely used in high-temperature components, and their oxidation resistance at high temperature is closely related to long-term service reliability. However, high-temperature oxidation is an intrinsically complex, nonlinear, strongly time-dependent, and multi-stage process, making accurate prediction of oxidation kinetics challenging.
Ameliorating calcium homeostasis improves longevity and healthspan in progeroid and naturally aged mice
Abstract Cellular calcium (Ca2+)-regulating systems are compromised during aging-related disorders. Here, we show that disruption of Ca2+ homeostasis leads to the cytoplasmic accumulation of Ca2+ binding protein S100A6, which promotes Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS) and natural aging.

In-vehicle 3D vision for perceiving dangerous driving behaviors
Abstract Accurate identification of dangerous driving behaviors is critical for accident prevention and occupant protection. However, most existing in-vehicle driver monitoring systems rely primarily on facial or head motion analysis, which fails to capture full-body driving behaviors and raises privacy concerns due to dependence on RGB or near-infrared imaging. In addition, these systems often exhibit limited robustness under low-light conditions.
GLUT6-facilitated noncanonical glucose metabolic rewiring enables resistance to targeted cancer therapy
Abstract Targeting glucose metabolism has long been pursued as an anticancer strategy, yet its clinical translation remains challenging. Achieving therapeutic selectivity requires identifying actionable metabolic distinctions between different malignant traits. Here, we uncover a noncanonical, lactate-independent glucose metabolic pathway facilitated by the glucose transporter 6 (GLUT6), which confers targeted therapy resistance in lung cancer.

Abstract Quantum dot (QD) superlattices offer collective optoelectronic properties distinct from disordered solids1,2,3,4, but their integration into high-resolution display devices remains elusive because of difficulties in achieving spatially defined, structurally coherent thin films. Here we report a scalable strategy for fabricating pixelated perovskite QD (PeQD) superlattice thin-film arrays that feature in-plane long-range order, vertical confinement and precise spatial patterning.
PDK4 drives abdominal aortic aneurysm by promoting smooth muscle cell metabolic reprogramming and NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis
Abstract Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a progressive dilation of the abdominal aorta that can rupture and cause catastrophic internal bleeding, yet the mechanisms driving AAA remain poorly understood. Here we show that pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 4 (PDK4), a key metabolic regulator, is upregulated in human and mouse AAA tissues. Deletion of Pdk4 in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) significantly reduces AAA formation in male mice.

Bioinspired interfacial nanofluidic layer enabling high-rate and dendrite-free lithium metal negative electrodes - Nature Communications
Abstract Lithium metal negative electrodes are highly promising for high-specific-energy batteries due to their low electrochemical potential and high capacity. However, dendrite growth due to limited Li+ transport at the interface hinder their performance and safety. Enhancing interfacial Li+ transport can prevent Li+ depletion and ensure uniform Li deposition. Herein, an artificial interphase layer inspired by the nanofluidic effects in organisms is developed.
