Bilayer Hydrogel Electrolytes Regulate Electric-Field-Induced Deformation in Zinc–Sodium Hybrid Batteries
1 Introduction Hydrogels are a class of flexible materials that are used as quasi-solid-state electrolytes (QSEs) in a wide range of battery systems [1, 2]. Since the emergence of QSEs and hydrogels, most research has centered on regulating the ionic transport structure of hydrogels to increase their ionic conductivity [3-5]. Recent advances have regulated ion coordination and migration through polymer-network design.

Acoustic topological Jackiw–Rebbi states at symmetry broken interfaces
Abstract Topological insulators, a fundamental concept in modern condensed matter physics, support localized states at the interfaces between insulators exhibiting different topological phases, which conventionally rely on explicit symmetry breaking. Here, we propose a mechanism to induce a real-space topological phase transition by spontaneous symmetry breaking, thereby establishing a weakly-coupled non-Hermitian double-well potential to generate a nontrivial Jackiw-Rebbi state.
Indirubin promotes alveolar bone regeneration through AhR/SLC7A11-mediated inhibition of macrophage ferroptosis
Abstract Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that drives progressive destruction of tooth-supporting tissues, including the alveolar bone of the maxilla and mandible—integral components of the skeletal system essential for oral function and structural stability. In this study, we investigated whether indirubin, a natural compound with known anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties, could ameliorate periodontitis by modulating macrophage ferroptosis.

A case study of evolutionary variability and determinism among type III polyketide synthases
Abstract Repeated evolution of the same enzymatic activity represents a powerful model of determinism across diverse lineages, yet its underlying evolutionary trajectories remain poorly understood. Here we identified three 3-oxo-glutaric acid (OGA)-forming type III polyketide synthases (PKSs) from Brassicaceae plants through in vitro enzyme assays.
Impact of heterogeneous particle distributions on secondary ice production through the rime-splintering process in isolated convective clouds
Abstract The rime-splintering (RS) process, which is one of the most important secondary ice production mechanisms, plays a crucial role in regulating ice crystal number concentrations and precipitation formation in convective clouds. The initiation and efficiency of the RS process are modulated by the spatial distributions of liquid and ice particles, which are highly heterogeneous.
Phased fuel transitions for decarbonizing the Asia–Europe Green Shipping Corridor
Abstract International shipping stands at a pivotal juncture in its decarbonization efforts, yet a comprehensive assessment of viable fuel transition pathways remains scarce. Here we develop a dynamic life cycle assessment framework integrated with system dynamics to evaluate 13 alternative marine fuels (for example, ammonia, methanol, hydrogen and soybean-based biodiesel) for the Asia–Europe Green Shipping Corridor through 2050.
Phased fuel transition for low-carbon shipping
Along the Asia–Europe shipping corridor, biofuels offer the strongest near-term option, potentially cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 31–47%, while electrofuels become more competitive after 2040 under the International Maritime Organization Net-Zero Framework. Policymakers could therefore adopt a phased strategy that prioritizes biofuels now and prepares infrastructure for electrofuels after 2040, to avoid locking shipping into transitional fossil fuels.
Treponema pallidum serine protease Tp0841 degrades ZO-1 and VE-cadherin to breach the vascular barrier and enable dissemination
Abstract Treponema pallidum subsp. pallidum (T. pallidum), the causative agent of syphilis, disseminates to distant organs by disrupting the vascular endothelial barrier, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we investigated the role of the serine protease Tp0841 in this process. Bioinformatics and immunofluorescence localized Tp0841 to the periplasmic space of T. pallidum. Recombinant Tp0841 (rTp0841) and a catalytically inactive mutant (rΔTp0841) were generated.
Vitamin B5 supports anti-PD1 response in HER2-positive gastric cancer and enhances interaction between naïve B cells and T cells
Abstract The cellular mechanisms underlying HER2-positive gastric cancer (HER2+ GC) responses to immunochemotherapy remain underexplored. Here, we perform longitudinal single-cell RNA-sequencing with paired TCR/BCR profiling on HER2+ and HER2-negative gastric cancer (HER2− GC) pre- and post-treatment to find dynamic immune remodeling during. Pre-treatment HER2+ GC displays an immunogenic microenvironment enriched with tumor-reactive T and B cells compared to HER2− GC.

A retrospective study of intravesical botulin toxin type A in children with refractory detrusor overactivity
Abstract Detrusor overactivity (DO) is a common urodynamic manifestation of lower urinary tract dysfunction in children, which seriously affects the health of patients. Intravesical injection of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) is a minimally invasive alternative therapy for children with small bladder capacity or DO who fail to respond to drug therapy. However, BTX-A’s safety, efficacy, and possible influencing factors for children still need to be further studied.
Spatial transcriptomic analyses highlight distinct erythroid niches in mice and humans

1 Introduction Surimi products are aquatic processed foods primarily produced from fish or frozen surimi as raw materials, using the heat-induced gelation properties of myofibrillar protein (MP) to form an elastic gel network structure through thermal processing (Wang, Liu, Xue, et al. 2025). Surimi products are not only rich in essential amino acids and high in protein, but also low in fat, catering to growing consumer demand for health-oriented food options.
Multi-omics profiling reveals systemic rejuvenation of the aged kidney through senolytic therapy
Abstract Cellular senescence is a key driver of kidney aging, leading to functional decline and increased susceptibility to chronic kidney disease. While the senolytic combination of dasatinib and quercetin (D + Q) has shown promise in mitigating age-related pathologies, its long-term effects and underlying multi-level systemic mechanisms in the aging kidney remain poorly defined. Here, we systematically evaluated the long-term effects of D + Q in naturally aged mice using multi-omics approaches.
Metal-center electron affinity modulates multicolor electrochromism in 2D conjugated metal-organic frameworks
Abstract Two-dimensional conjugated metal-organic frameworks are emerging platforms for electrochromic devices, yet the current stage is limited by monotonous color and an unclear coloration mechanism. While prior studies emphasize the ligand-centered redox process, the role of metal centers is often overlooked. Herein, we report a metal-center electron-affinity mechanism that is critical to electrochromic performance.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis IDH-PPARγ interaction suppresses GPX4 to drive macrophage ferroptosis and sustain persistent infection
|
Abstract Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) actively reprograms host lipid metabolism during infection; however, the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. How M.tb manipulates macrophage lipid metabolism to induce lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis for bacterial persistence remains a fundamental question. Here, using single-cell RNA sequencing and proteomics, we show that M.tb infection substantially upregulates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) in macrophages.

Aurka-Bhlhe41 axis prevents premature aging-like microglial dysfunction and promotes remyelination
|
Abstract Aging accelerates central nervous system remyelination failure and neurodegeneration. Microglia promote remyelination by phagocytosing myelin debris, but this function is impaired by aging-related CD22 upregulation. However, the molecular mechanisms counteracting premature aging-related microglial dysfunction and remyelination impairment remain unclear.
