FDX1-short proteoform induces caspase-independent cell death in tumor cells
Abstract Cell death is a crucial process for the maintenance of physiological functions in organisms. In recent years, cuproptosis, a novel form of cell death induced by copper overload in mitochondria, has emerged as a critical regulatory mechanism. Ferredoxin 1 (FDX1), a key electron transfer protein in this pathway, is essential for copper metabolism and the regulation of cuproptosis. In this study, we characterized a natural short proteoform of FDX1, FDX1-Short Proteoform (FDX1-SP).

Hippocampal neuronal progranulin mediates estrogen‑deficiency‑induced affective vulnerability and lysosomal-autophagic dysfunction
Abstract Perimenopausal women typically face a heightened risk of emotional disturbances, including anxiety and depression. The estrogen decline increases vulnerability to mood disorders, but the molecular mechanisms underlying stress resilience remain unclear. Here, we identify hippocampal neuronal progranulin (PGRN), a secreted neuroprotective glycoprotein, as a key regulator of affective resilience under estrogen-deficient conditions.

A bioinspired hierarchical architecture for the high-yield recovery of industrial water vapour
Abstract Industrial cooling towers discharge substantial amounts of water vapour, and this remains a largely untapped resource. Here, inspired by termite mound thermoregulation, we present a four-tier water-recovery architecture to bridge this gap. The primary tier utilizes a heterostructured microsphere coating to achieve a capillary-driven nucleation rate of 33.6 g m−2 min−1, while enabling 1.7 °C of radiative sub-dewpoint cooling via gradient-refractive index spines.

Plasma aldosterone concentration and valvular heart disease in hypertensive patients: a large cross-sectional study
Abstract Prior research has demonstrated that plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) is critically involved in cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, investigations specifically focusing on its association with valvular heart disease (VHD) remain limited. To address this gap in knowledge, this study aims to examine the relationship between PAC and VHD in hypertensive patients. The analysis included data from 35,622 hospitalized patients between January 2010 and February 2025.
BMX inhibition overcomes small cell lung cancer chemoresistance by stabilizing E2F1 via ERK1/2-Cyclin D1/CDK4/6 axis
Abstract Chemotherapy resistance remains a critical bottleneck limiting its clinical efficacy in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), with its core mechanisms and targeted intervention strategies urgently requiring breakthroughs. Our study revealed that the BMX (bone marrow tyrosine kinase on chromosome X)-E2F1 (E2F transcription factor 1) axis is a pivotal regulator of chemoresistance in SCLC. Synchronous upregulation of phosphorylated BMX (Tyr566) and E2F1 was observed in SCLC tissues and cells.

Detection of tunnel lining voids using multi-channel cochleagram coefficients with an attention mechanism
ABSTRACT Tunnels play a crucial role in transportation infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of tunnel lining structures is critical for vehicles passing through. Acoustic detection of tunnel lining conditions is a viable approach to assessing structural integrity. In this study, acoustic signals are collected by striking the tunnel lining surface with a small hammer, and sound samples are generated in different reverberant environments to simulate tunnel conditions.
Rising Influence of Climate on the Distribution of Black‐Necked Cranes (Grus nigricollis) on Tibetan Plateau
1 Introduction The IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) states that the global surface temperature has risen 1.99 (likely range: 0.95°C–1.20°C) during 2011–2020 relative to 1850–1900 (IPCC 2021), with temperatures continuing to rise (Cai et al. 2022). This warming effect is particularly pronounced in plateau regions, where higher altitudes amplify climate change effects, a phenomenon known as elevation-dependent warming (Pepin et al. 2015; Palazzi et al. 2017).
