Ice–water interfaces drive speciation transformation and suppress bioavailability potential of freshly deposited arsenic during soil freeze–thaw cycles
Abstract Ubiquitous freeze–thaw cycles serve as a hidden driver reshaping arsenic (As) bioavailability in industrial and adjacent agricultural soils impacted by industrial emissions. Here we show that ice–water interfaces trigger rapid changes in the speciation and bioavailability potential of freshly deposited As particles in soils, primarily within the first three freeze–thaw cycles.
Translanguaging in online requests: communicative strategies of Chinese international students in the UK
This study investigates how Chinese students in the UK utilise translanguaging strategies in their online requests through the analysis of data collected from WhatsApp and Instagram. The findings reveal that students employ a diverse range of multimodal, multilingual, and multisemiotic resources, indicating a strategic blending of languages and modes to effectively navigate communication. Three turn positions are identified, ranked in order of frequency: single turn, turn medial, and turn initial.
Nighttime warming dominates the thermal evolution of lakes across China
Abstract Diurnal asymmetric warming profoundly affects lake thermodynamics and aquatic ecosystems, yet its large-scale patterns and drivers remain poorly understood. Here we analyze diurnal surface temperature trends of 613 lakes across China from 2001 to 2025, disentangling climatic and anthropogenic contributions. Nighttime warming drives long-term lake warming nationally, with 84.01% of lakes showing a nighttime-dominant pattern.
Functionalized GelMA-based hydrogels for osteoimmunomodulation and bone regeneration
Abstract Complex bone defects caused by trauma, infection, tumor-related bone loss and metabolic disorders remain clinically challenging because an inflammatory imbalance, impaired vascularization and insufficient osteogenesis often coexist. Gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) hydrogels are attractive matrices for bone regeneration owing to the extracellular matrix-mimicking structure, tunable physicochemical properties and compatibility with injectable, printable and composite systems.
Prognostic Significance of Secondary-Type Mutations in NPM1 -Mutated Acute Myeloid Leukemia
1 Introduction Mutations in myelodysplasia-related genes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), also known as secondary-type mutations (STMs), include those in ASXL1, SF3B1, SRSF2, BCOR, STAG2, EZH2, U2AF1, and ZRSR2 [1, 2]. Previous studies have shown that STMs are associated with a history of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or MDS-like clinical features and unfavorable outcomes [1, 3-5].
A dual-site oral nanovaccine programs anti-colorectal tumor immunity from small intestinal priming to large intestinal boosting
Abstract Oral vaccines hold great promise for colorectal cancer (CRC) immunotherapy but are limited by inefficient mucosal delivery and a lack of spatiotemporal control over immune activation. Here we report a spatiotemporally programmed oral nanovaccine that implements a dual-site vaccination strategy through a sequential and causally linked immune cascade, initiating immune priming in Peyer’s patches of the small intestine and subsequently amplifying immunity at colorectal tumor sites.
Selectively intraparticle oxygen dissociation and metalloid mineralization for long-term groundwater remediation
Abstract In-situ intraparticle mineralization of widespread metalloids in groundwater is challenging but critical for global freshwater security. However, electronic and steric hindrances of complex oxygen-containing configurations prevent efficient oxygen dissociation and mineralization.
Integrated immunoreactivity analysis of MHC-I epitopes derived from the Marburg virus glycoprotein
Abstract Introduction: Marburg virus (MARV) is a hemorrhagic fever virus, and its glycoprotein (GP) represents an important target for vaccine research. MHC class I (MHC-I)-restricted T cell epitopes are critical for inducing cytotoxic CD8+ T cell responses. In this study, we aimed to identify MHC-I-restricted T cell epitopes derived from the MARV Angola strain GP through an integrated bioinformatics and experimental approach.
Multi-branch heterogeneous network of exploiting complementary multi-view features for decoding finger motor imagery EEG
Abstract In contrast to general motor imagery involving large body parts, research on finger motor imagery is very scarce. Due to more refined motor functions, the decoding of finger motor imagery is more arduous and has lower accuracy than that of general motor imagery. In order to improve the decoding accuracy of finger motor imagery, this paper proposes the problem of identifying complementary multi-view decoding features and the problem of electrode channel difference of convolution kernels.
Construction of molecular fans in metal-organic framework to overcome diffusion resistance for trace benzene capture
Abstract Molecular size-matched pores of adsorbents provide strong adsorptive forces for benzene, but high diffusion resistance. Overcoming the diffusion resistance within molecular size-matched pores is essential to efficient capture of trace benzene from indoor air or industrial exhaust gas, but challenging.

Kawasaki disease following a pediatric scald burn: a case report and literature review
Abstract Background: Kawasaki disease (KD) is a systemic medium-vessel vasculitis of early childhood that, rarely, has been reported during the course of a pediatric burn. Because persistent fever, rash, and mucocutaneous changes overlap with the systemic inflammatory response to a burn wound, KD can go unrecognized, delaying the administration of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), which reduces the risk of coronary sequelae.

Caspase-3-mediated apoptosis-associated flavor changes in large yellow croaker during cold storage induced by Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter haemolyticus : a metabolomics and headspace solid-phase microextraction–gas chromatography–mass spectrometry study
INTRODUCTION Large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) is an important type of marine fish with high nutritional value and unique flavor.1 Changes in fish quality attributes such as color, texture, and moisture occur after death due to microbial growth and activation of endogenous enzymes. These biochemical processes may be related to apoptosis.2 Refrigeration is a method to slow down the deterioration of fish, but biochemical reactions continue to take place during refrigeration.
Urban high-rise compact form amplifies humid heat risk from vegetation transpiration
Abstract Urbanization has intensified human heat-stress risk. Although vegetation transpiration (Ec) can partly mitigate the urban heat island, the associated rise in local humidity may also exacerbate heat stress. How rapid urbanization and its associated three-dimensional (3D) urban form regulate vegetation’s coupled “cooling–humidifying” effect remains poorly understood.

Dysregulation of macrophage lipid metabolism underlies intracellular bacterial neuroinvasion
Abstract Acute central nervous system infection is highly lethal, yet the mechanisms by which intracellular bacteria infiltrate the brain remain unclear. Phagocytes are central to host defense, but how infected cells facilitate bacterial access to the brain is poorly defined. In this study, we characterize a CD36+ Fabp4+ Pparg+ macrophage subset that mediates bacterial penetration of the brain without disrupting the blood–brain barrier.
